All of the above products are going to be tested on compliance with the State Ttechnical Commission’s Technical Regulations and Guidelines “Unauthorized Access Control. Part 1. Information Security Software. Undeclared Capacities Control Level Classification.” Apart from that, Symantec Enterprise Firewall and Symantec Desktop Firewall will be obtain certificates of compliance with the Commission’s Guidelines "Data Processing Tools. Firewalls. Unauthorized Data Access Control. Unauthorized Data Access Control Parameters.” A special press-conference was arranged, during which representatives of Russian mass-media had a chance to communicate with head of Symantec Office Vladimir Larin, head of Jet Info Systems Data Security Tools and Methods Department Ilia Trifalenkov and deputy head of Licenses and Certificates Division of the State Technical Commission of the Russian Federation Igor Kalaida. “The certification process, launched today together with our partner, is a sure sign of the fact that our corporation has a confident standing on the Russian market and will continue this way,” Vladimir Larin told reporters. “These certificates will further improve the competitiveness of our products and will give us a possibility to better cater for the needs of the customers,” he added. Apart from that, Mr. Larin pointed out that the appointment of Jet Info Systems as the leading contractor is well-justified. Among the key reasons for this choice were the company’s extensive experience in data security projects, superior profession l skill of the personnel and participation in drafting regulations for this particular sphere. “We are honored by the fact that Symantec chose us to certify its products; this shows the company’s appreciation for our experience and capabilities,” Ilia Trifalenkov said. “We commenced our cooperation several years ago, and it proved highly beneficial first of all for our clients. Thanks to the certification we plan to resolve all legal issues concerning application of Symantec security products by governmental entities and private businesses.” According to Igor Kalaida, representatives of the State Technical Commission will be provided with all the necessary technical data and direct consultations with developers at Symantec laboratories. This is an unprecedented example of close cooperation between a foreign company and a Russian governmental agency.
