Sometimes it’s a central server of a major bank, sometimes – a key Internet access unit. I don’t think I’ll be stretching the truth too much if I say that almost every citizen of Russia at some point has to deal with components we installed – whether it should be Central Bank payment system or gas supplying units, controlled by systems we deployed. We have come a long way – 8 years – to achieve this. We were the first company to install a Sun in Russia, and today we are the first to sell more than a thousand of them. As an independent IT solutions provider, Jet Info Systems could choose any platform. At that time, in 1991, we were the only company to discard personal computers and go for Sun – a RISC architecture not really known at the time. This can be called a risky enterprise. Yet, as it is clear from our experience, the risk was totally justified and today many companies follow our example. Jet Info Systems still stands by Sun solutions, for today this is the best platform available for developing complex and reliable systems. Jet Info Systems was among Sun Microsystem’s first partners in Russia, Luc Opdebeeck, Sun Microsystem’s CIS general manager pointed out. As far back as 1991 we started to develop Russian market together. And it is with pleasure that we celebrate another success achieved by Jet Info Systems. It is also very important that the name of the company is strongly linked to first complex projects successfully implemented in Russia. One of the major strengths of a company is its ability to provide customers with a comprehensive system solution, from project development and launch to further technical support. When Jet Info Systems finalizes a project, this means that the system will work and do what it is supposed to. The thousandth Sun is going to be installed in a couple of days to become an indispensable part of yet another successful project. Over more than 8 years of continuous and mutually beneficial partnership Jet Info Systems and Sun Microsystems have implemented a number of unique projects. Among the first was servers installation at Moscow University, servers and workstations launch at Research Data Processing Center of Russia’s Ministry for Natural Resources, as well as deployment of a network of several dozens Sun workstations at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in the city of Dubna in 1992. 1995 saw the first in Russia and one of the first in the world installation and launch of a heavy duty database cluster SPARC luster PDB at the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. That very year the development of Information Center for Russian Credit Bank commenced. By the time the project was finalized the Center ranked among the largest in Russia. It worked with more than a hundred Bank branches in Moscow and various Russian regions. Successes of the company resulted in it receiving the Sun Microsystems Outstanding Strategic Partner diploma in 1995. In 1998 Jet info Systems acquired a certificate confirming its “partnership with the Sun Microsystems corporation over the five years of its work in Russia.” The thousandth Sun was installed at the Space Biomedicine Study and Research Center within the project on development of tele-health services in Russia. Jet Info Systems is a reliable partner, capable of dealing with virtually any task including those in the sphere of developing a tele-health information system, Oleg Orlov, general director of the Space Biomedicine Study and Research Center, said. Our concept of the tele-health system includes deployment of a tele-health network and information systems in medical institutions based on Sun solutions. Jet Info Systems deals with all the issues involved – from choosing the best-suited solution and adjusting configuration to installation, support, modification and further development. Very important is also support of new tasks for already deployed information systems. All this helps to significantly cut down on investment risks. The Tele-Health project was developed with a view to introduce remote medical consultations and data exchange methods based on modern IT solutions in the Space Biomedicine Study and Research Center and Institute for Medicine and Biology of the State Scientific Center of Russian Federation. The system’s test section was equipped with Ultra-1 graphic stations with installed ShowMy package for real-time patience consultations regime and remote education purposes. The equipment is going to be employed for further development of tele-health system, as well as for the development of tele-health support for manned space flights carried out within International Space Station programme. As an “anniversary customer,” the Space Biomedicine Study and Research Center was entitled to a check for USD 25.000 from Jet Info Systems. Later the money could be used for the acquisition of Sun Microsystems equipment. According to Mr. Opdebeeck, Jet Info Systems was the first Russian company to choose Sun products as the platform for their solutions. It is not easy to be the first in something, but this company is not afraid of difficulties. The companies intend to continue their mutually beneficial partnership. We are sure that Jet Info Systems will soon have installed the second thousand of Sun workstations. all news |
