Jet Info Systems held a seminar “Corporate and Municipal Information Resources Security. Theory and Practice.” The seminar was supported by the city administration and brought together about a hundred participants, including representatives of such large enterprises as GAZ, Verhnevolzhski Oil Pipeline, Gorki Railways, Teploenergo, Frunze Works, Gidromash, Nizhfarm, as well as representatives of municipal and commercial structures. In his welcoming address Leonid Babkov, head of the Information and Analytical Department of Nizhni Novgorood city administration, said, among other things, “Administration – as a body that is called upon to regulate the life of the city – realizes that no municipal structure can exist today without IT; at the same time, loss or distortion of vital data can inflict considerable damage on the city and harm its citizens.”

The seminar included three major sections. The first of them focused on legal aspects if information security regulation. This section was attended by representatives of the governmental structures involved with these issues, including The State Technical Commission of the Russian Federation, Federal Agency for Government Communication and Information and FSB (Federal Security Service of Russia). The second section discussed the solutions currently present on the market. In this sections representatives of Sun Microsystems and Symantec, two of Jet Info Systems’ leading business partners, introduced their reports. The third section featured reports on the experience of Jet Info Systems in large information systems projects and company’s own security solutions and products. According to Evgeni Shablygin, company’s President, “It is a common opinion that there are two different worlds – Western and Russian, and the latter is more often than not further subdivided into Moscow and other regions. Yet both Russian and Western societies have to face similar information security challenges, for every one is bound to go through certain stages in the development. And in this respect Russia is no exception, only it has to go through these stages at a higher pace. Our company has accumulated vast experience both on the Western and Russian markets. We are ready to introduce those technologies here and prove that they work and bring tangible advantages.”
